Circa 1880's and a majesty to behold, this antique convertible brooch/pendant most definitely has a prestigious past life as jewels such as this would have been worn to glamorous parties and balls glittering under the chandeliers, and as a splendid centrepiece shewn the elevated status of the wearer.
A double eight-pointed star within an ovalled shape, the openwork design displays well against a darker fabric as all is mounted with a profusion of old hand cut Diamonds, each unique and of lovely quality being both clean and white; the centre stone measuring at around 0.45ct alone, we would estimate the combined content at 2 carats. With that special STAR quality and a sense of wonder and history, it would be so lovely if this wonderful old jewel could be kept as an heirloom within a family again and brought out for special occasions.
All created in a Silver mounting backed upon 18ct yellow Gold and converting from a pendant to a brooch by way of a screw in fitting which attaches to the reverse, it measures 3.5cm by 3cm.
